Travis Whaley
Brass Boot Camp Instructor
Travis Whaley, trombone, graduated from Silverado High School in Las Vegas in 2006 and attended Northern Arizona University earning a bachelors in Music Education in 2010. While Attending NAU, Mr. Whaley was a member of the Lumberjack Marching Band for four years, held the position of drum major for three of those years, and performed with the NAU Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Brass Quintet 1 & 2, Trombone Choir, and Brass Choir. Mr. Whaley was a founding member of the Phi Mu Alpha chapter at NAU where he served as Historian and President and was an active member in the NAU chapter of CMENC, Wind and Percussion Advisory Board, and NAU's chapter of the International Trombone Association.
Currently, Mr. Whaley is the band director at Cannon Junior High School in Las Vegas and is an active alumni and volunteer for The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps where he held the position of Drum Major for two out of his three years marching with that group, '08, '09, '10. He is also the brass & woodwind coach for the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras – Youth Symphony group.
