Orchestra Description
- Full Symphonic Orchestra
- Grades 10-12
- 5-8 years experience
Course Description
- Approximately 30 weeks with 33 rehearsals meeting mostly once a week for 3 hours per rehearsal session, and 4 concerts per season, eligible for CCSD ½ credit hr. per semester (1 credit hr. per year)
- Study and preparation for four concerts, and additional special performances
- Offers Gr.11/12 Concerto Competition/Apply-Aug.; Audition -Dec.; winner solos with orchestra at Spring Concert
- Enrichment and advanced study of musical repertoire for higher levels of music learning
- Complex orchestra repertoire in complete orchestral setting at collegiate and pre-collegiate level
- Develop skills in teamwork and student's part as it relates to student's section and entire orchestra
- Occasional visits from guest conductors/clinicians, Overseas Triennial Concert Tour (Tour Years- June 2008, June 2011, June 2014)
- Opportunity to work with professional section specialists
- Role model for Symphony, Sinfonia, and Ensemble students
- Opportunity to develop friendships with select musicians county-wide, and be recognized locally, regionally, nationally and globally
