LVYO SOLO COMPETITION

Winner will perform with the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra in Concert at 6:00 p.m. on April 17th at
the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Reynolds Hall
 

Solo Competition Policy

1. Orchestral accompaniment must be available in the LVYO library or available for
purchase or in public domain. Music available as a rental only is not allowed.

2. Music is not to exceed 8 minutes in length. Acceptable cuts must be made if the original
total selection length is longer.

3. Contestants must provide their own accompanist for the competition.

4. Only full-time LVYO Philharmonic (credit eligible) are eligible to participate.

5. LVYO Philharmonic member that meets Item#4 can perform on a secondary instrument
i.e. piano.

6. Applications are subject to the approval of the LVYO Philharmonic conductor and
submitted by the deadline date.

7. Participants must present 1 original copy of the solo and piano accompaniment for the
judging panel at the time of the competition. (Just one original, NOT 1 per judge)

8. The winning participant’s piece cannot have been performed by any orchestra in
southern Nevada during the 2023-2024 concert season. If this conflict is discovered the
winner will be disqualified and the first runner-up will replace the initial winner.

9. Should the winner be unable to fulfill their position, the first runner-up agrees to perform
at the required performance.

Times will be scheduled between noon and 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2024.

 

There will be one winner and one first runner-up declared.

 

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Midnight, January 5, 2024
