Kauri Koizumi-Bond

Philharmonic and Wind Ensemble Conductor

Born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii, Kauri Koizumi is an avid and passionate music educator,
conductor, and flutist. Ms. Koizumi is currently in her second year at Palo Verde High School.
Koizumi's bands have performed for multiple events throughout Las Vegas including Marching
Competitions, Festivals, and Corporate Events, winning high honors and awards throughout all
ensembles. Koizumi has teaching experience within all band levels from Middle School to the
Collegiate Level.
For education, Ms. Koizumi has completed her two bachelor's degrees in Music Education and
Flute Performance and her Master's in Music degree in Wind Band Conducting all at the
University of Nevada, Las Vegas. During her time in her Master's degree, Koizumi has served
as the head graduate assistant in the Band department, managing six ensembles and running
five ensembles.
As for teaching experience, Koizumi has worked and taught middle school band at Highlands
Intermediate (Oahu, HI), Del Webb Middle School (Henderson, NV) and high school band at
Pearl City High School (Oahu, HI). Koizumi has also taught collegiate band at UNLV, which
entails community ensembles, undergraduate bands, marching band, and the
Grammy-Nominated Award Winning Wind Orchestra. Koizumi also served as the Director of the
Runnin' Rebels Basketball Pep Band, in which she took them to the NCAA tournament in 2022
to Tucson, Arizona.
As a flutist, Ms. Koizumi has played for many notable flutists which includes: Ms. Jasmine Choi,
Dr. Connor Nelson, Dr. Elizabeth Janzen, Dr. Rebecca Johnson, and Dr. Jennifer Grim. Ms.
Koizumi has studied under Ms. Susan McGinn, Principal Flutist of the Hawaii Symphony
Orchestra, Dr. Jennifer Grm, flute professor at the University of Miami, and Dr, John McMurtery,
flute professor at UNLV. As well as an avid performer, Ms. Koizumi also teaches flute privately
and has obtained her own private flute studio.
Lastly, professionally, Ms. Koizumi is involved with many musical organizations here in Nevada.
Ms. Koizumi serves as the Treasurer for the Southern Nevada Band Association and the
Secturtary of the Las Vegas Flute Club. Ms. Koizumi also adjudicates band festivals throughout
Nevada and gives band clinics all around town.

Dr. Ryan Bond

Jazz and Percussion Conductor

Dr. Ryan Bond is a percussionist, educator, and performer living in Las Vegas,
Nevada. Ryan teaches at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in the School of
Music as the Coordinator of History of Rock and an instructor of percussion. Bond
completed his Bachelor of Music degree at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, with
an emphasis in commercial music; a Master of Music degree at UNLV; and his
Doctor of Musical Arts degree in percussion from the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas (UNLV) under the mentorship of Dr. Dean Gronemeier, Dr. Timothy Jones,
Dr. Alex Stopa, and Gary Cook.
Bond's career has been marked by numerous performances and clinics in various
countries, including Finland, Norway, Sweden, Mexico, England, Spain, Portugal,
Germany, Estonia, and Denmark. He has shared the stage with esteemed groups
such as the World Percussion Group, Las Vegas Percussion Collective, Opera Las
Vegas, Vegas City Opera, Las Vegas Sinfonietta, Southern Nevada Chamber
Orchestra, Las Vegas Master Singers, Henderson Symphony Orchestra, and the
Grammy-nominated UNLV Wind Orchestra, where he served as principal
percussionist under the direction of Thomas G. Leslie. Notable collaborations
include working alongside John Patitucci, Eric Marienthal, and Bernie Dressel.
Bond's professional affiliations include being a member of the PAS Health and
Wellness Committee and serving as the Nevada PAS chapter Treasurer.
He has been published multiple times in Percussive Notes, Rhythm! Scene, Not So
Modern Drummer, and more.
Bond's commitment to the music industry is evident in his active participation. He
regularly gives clinics, instructs camps, adjudicates, and freelances on the Vegas
Strip and in the Vegas area, in addition to maintaining a private studio. His work
extends to the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras and the Clark County School District,
where he serves as a percussion specialist. Bond proudly endorses Innovative
Percussion sticks and mallets, Majestic Percussion, Sabian cymbals, Mapex
Drums, Black Swamp Percussion, and REMO drumheads.
