Jimmy Nguyen is the Director of Bands at Clifford Lawrence Junior High School in Las Vegas, Nevada where he currently teaches a symphonic band, two concert bands, three beginning bands, and a jazz ensemble, in a band program of 250 students. He has been a music educator since 2020 when he started his career at Brown Academy of International Studies. Nguyen currently has an active private oboe studio with students consistently ranking top chairs in the district honor bands. Nguyen also makes handmade, professional oboe reeds that are in high demand by students, teachers, and band programs across the valley. Since 2021, Nguyen's ensembles have consistently earned "Superior" ratings in concert and jazz band festivals in Las Vegas. In 2021, Nguyen was one of the six recipients of the Clark County School District "New Educator of the Year" award out of hundreds of new teachers.

Mr. Nguyen holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he studied oboe and English horn with Dr. Stephen Caplan. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Music Education from Central Washington University through the American Band College. Nguyen's professional memberships include the National Association for Music Education, Nevada Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, International Double Reed Society, and Southern Nevada Band Association. He currently serves as one of the woodwind coaches of the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra Symphonic Band. Nguyen is a member of the Henderson Symphony Orchestra playing second oboe and English horn.
